Collage on matboard – 15 x 9 inches
Title: MadMan

This is my favourite collage to date. I love the retro vibe and the clash of ideas. You can almost smell the cigarette smoke and hear the typewriter keys frantically smashing out copy for some 60’s Ad agency, under an unrealistic (but doable) deadline.

Collage on a pumpkin – 35 inch diameter
Title: Bowie

I was honoured to be asked to decorate a pumpkin to be auctioned for a United Way fundraiser. David Bowie was a natural fit as he is one of the most celebrated icons of costume that millions draw their inspiration at Halloween. There is a beautiful image of Iman stretching across the other side. Sadly I didn’t take a picture of it before it was in the hands of the highest bidder.

Mini collage in a tiny sketchbook – 2.33 x 1.66 inches
Title: A few good men

I am beyond excited to by an official artist of The Sketchbook Project. This tiny sketchbook is filled with pint-sized collages depicting iconic people, places and things as well as some humour and irony. My book can be found on the shelf at the Brooklyn Art Library in New York.

Collage on plywood – 15 x 10 inches
Title: Wild Call

It was such a joy to join the fine folks at CobourgCollageCollective for their annual collage party on New Year’s eve. We pasted the night away listening to vinyl, sharing scraps and enjoyed a pot-luck dinner. The evening ended long before the clock struck midnight which was well beyond our bedtime anyway. Hahaha.

Collage on silver mat board – 18 x 16 inches
Title: GirlWorld

This is my second favourite piece. It began as a study of jewel tones and evolved into a deep but fun work with strong images of women surrounding the world. I love cheeky fashion and moody blues.

Collage on Arches Water Colour block – 16 x 12 inches
Title: In the bubblegum Pink

This is my least favourite collage. I love having Barbie’s presence and she totally rocks the Ray Bans I put on her. But lost my way a bit and shouldn’t have rushed it, which is a good lesson-learned from this early piece.

The Sketchbook Project, Volume 15 – 5 x 7 inches
Title: Ode to Daniel Johnston

This project is near and dear to my heart. I filled the pages with collages that are my interpretation of the lyrics to Daniel’s song, “Story of an Artist”, which you can play on Spotify while you turn the pages. I had difficulty completing the project due to heartbreak when Daniel passed away before it was finished. I had hoped to mail a copy to him in hopes that it would bring him joy. His art and music touched so many people who struggle with mental health, addiction and poor health as he did. You can learn more about Daniel Johnston’s music and art at http://www.hihowareyou.com. My book is shelved at the Brooklyn Art Library and can also be viewed online at http://www.thesketchbookproject.com, catalogue #378.4-8.

Collage on fabric – 16 x 12 inches
Title: Dream On (SOLD)

Using a collection of images that I had gathered over time, this one really thrilled me. It now belongs to a friend who loved it which is the biggest compliment to receive.
